If you have looked into Subaru vehicles at all you’ll know that they are quite popular in the regions of the United States more susceptible to get a lot of snow. Since winters tend to be slippery times of year for drivers in states like New York, Minnesota and Michigan many drivers opt for the proven all wheel drive that comes standard on virtually every Subaru model.

One Subaru model that might be a good fit if you are looking for a mid size sedan is the Legacy. The model has come a long way in the past several years. While it was something of an odd ball about a decade ago the automaker has refined it into a more mainstream sedan with a few added perks you won’t find on some other similar sedans.

What perks? Well if you are a car enthusiast you probably like turbochargers and forced induction systems on 4 wheel drive cars are even more fun since you get extra power combined with enhanced traction capabilities. The styling of the Legacy has been refined as well and looks less bland than in the past and more like the fast, affordable all weather sedan that it is. Subaru’s Symmetrical All Wheel Drive system has been tested against some all wheel drive systems from other automakers and stood up quite well since it manages to distribute power to the wheels in a manner that helps keep up forward momentum and climb slippery inclines.

There are some other all wheel drive models to consider when looking at sedans this size however you’ll find that some of them are not quite in the same price range so it’s a trade off between brand prestige and value when comparing with other AWD models like the Audi A4.

If you are in the market for an all wheel drive car it might be worth checking out the moderately used models for sale since you can save a large chunk of money by going with a super clean used model versus buying a brand new model off the show room floor. You can usually get more than enough of a savings to cover any downside you might see in not having the chance to break in the car yourself.
